Vacuum insulated stainless steel food jar keeps foods hot or cold for hours. Durable and sanitary electro-polished SlickSteel stainless steel interior resists corrosion and repels stains. I use it to contain my baby's food and cook it when I am traveling. It keeps heat really well so I can actually make food from raw to cooked. The trick is to cut your material as thin as possible so heat can go through easily. Besides that, I would rinse its inside with some boiled water before I put my raw material and some more boil water in it.

It also keeps my baby's fruit cold and nice. We live in Arizona and it is boiling hot inside the car before I turn on my AC. I can leave this jar with fruit inside the car and do my shopping in supermarkets. When I come back to my car the fruit is still cold even though the outside of the jar is burning hot. My son would not sit on his car seat if we don't feed him so it is a great great help to us !

I really love its shape, not only because it is stylish but also because it is easier to dig food out and clean it. The bottom of the jar is thinner so I can fit it in my cup holders when I drive. It is also easier to hold if you are a female with smaller hands.
Every part can be disassembled to clean, so things won't stuck in the cover. My mother never know how to put it back correctly but my husband and I have no trouble with it.

Another really good design with this jar is its cover. It has a rubber part inside the cover. You can let some air in by lifting it up so it would be much easier to open the jar after the pressure is balanced. I also have a Thermos food jar, which I also love, but once I left food inside it for too long and its cover get stuck. My husband and I tried so hard to open it to the point that we almost break it. After that experience I really appreciate zojirushi has this design!

It is a little more pricy than other food jar but I would recommend my friend to buy it too .

My son take it to a school with a hot launch. My only concern is that I wish if it could keep heat more longer (from 8.30 am - hot to 12.30 - warm, though it is good enough for a school day).

Can actually cook rice in it by putting in uncooked rice and boiling water. I was skeptical at first, but it works rather well.

This is not a maintenance free system. You have to keep it clean. There are rubber gaskets that holds the pressure in. If you are the type of person who does not want to disassemble and clean after each use, this is not for you. The lid has two main parts and multiple gaskets.
